The transfer case isn’t the issue the transmission won’t engage a gear. When I push the clutch in if I try to select any gear it just grinds won’t even come close to going in gear

It's been decades since I had to replace clutch parts, but now I am remembering that they had a short and a long throwout bearing, and they were not interchangeable for function.
Didn't know they had a third style.

Transfer case may not be the issue, but the fact is, it doesn't matter if you tie a rope around the flywheel and attach it to the transfer case, if the t case is in neutral, and the truck is running, the truck will never move lol

I had to edit this, as I realized with a manual, the case can still be in neutral, but it shouldn't grind I don't believe, unless it's right there at the halfway point of engaged/disengaged

Now an auto will grind like a mf if you try to put it in gear with the case in neutral lol

But that is after all always connected, unlike a clutch

Sounds like the clutch isn't ever fully disengaging :(

Definitely would look into the aforementioned throwout bearings, as crappy as that is :(

But if you *havent* tried it with the t case in gear, give it a whirl

Ok guy's started it with the transfer case in 2 high pushed the clutch in to see if it would get the transmission in gear. no go:mad: the pedal doesn't even have any pressure till about two inches from the floor. I'm guessing it's the throw out bearing. Since I have no place to work on it. I found and old school guy has had a few K's himself says his shop can sort it out. I'll update when he's done

T/O bearing not installed on the fork properly would be my initial though. Or the fork has a broken tine on it.

I agree, it has all the hallmarks of clutch not disengaging. That lack of pressure until the pedal is almost on the floor says the same thing.

I wonder if starting it in gear would prove anything other than, it can move on its own.

I bet throwout bearing

The problem lies with that bearing I bet.
It always does...it's always the throw out bearing...
You must be registered for see images attach
.ESPECIALLY if you don't know what you're doing..installing the right parts is - kinda crucial.

Good luck!

And to confirm, you can row through the gears with positive engagement with the engine off, not touching the clutch?
If so, then adjustment, throwout bearing or clutch fork broke, bent, not seated right on the pivot are the likely issues.
