Radiator shroud removal

I am planning on replacing my cracked shroud but question how to remove the existing one. Most threads on this subject talk about split shrouds that are stapled or bolted together. Mine is one big piece.

Do I really need to work inside the shroud to remove the fan and pulley to get this off or is there something I’m just not seeing?

I can only get mine out by removing the fan from the water pump. Even with the radiator out there isn't enough room.

I'm pretty sure for the 1 piece your need to remove fan and probably the upper hose out of the way at radiator end only.

When I remove the fan and clutch from mine, I unbolt the shroud and move it towards the engine, which then allows easier access to the fasteners holding on the fan and clutch.

If you are replacing it anyway,cut a split it in and remove it. Go back with a 2 piece. Modify a 1 piece, or at least fan will be easy to get to coming off and you can clean everything including hardware for easy reassembly. And it was a great design for GMs purposes and served well for decades.
