Trying to hook up the power window relays and I’ve got some questions about wiring. I’m using the following diagram and I’ve got fused power from the under hood junction block going to 30, 85 is ground, 86 is to the switch and 87 is to the motor. If I ground 87a, I can hear the relays click, but nothing happens and if I hook it to power, I can hear the motor make a whine but still nothing happens. What am I missing here?

No idea honestly, but as I'm laid up in bed, been doing some researching myself and this is on "the list". Well..... really inspecting/repairing my wiring is, but this might be included in the repairs.

Ran across this thread elsewhere, and his wiring is clearly different. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=470949 Different motors in different years? I don't know. Maybe contact whomever you bought that relay kit from?

you realize you have to have 2 relays per door right? One to go up, and one to go down. There's 2 because you reverse the polarity of the wires to go in the other direction.

Ya I had two hooked up. Still nothing.

Ended up running a better ground, changing relays to a different brand, double/triple/quadruple checking wiring, changing fuses, etc. still nothing, so that’s it. Wasted like 3 hours on something I thought would be fairly straightforward

Forget the colors. Follow the numbers. The relay layout is correct. Just treat the window motors as if they are the lights in the picture.

99.9% sure this is how mine is:

85 – power from window switch
30 – to window motor
87 – +12v from battery (FUSED)
86 & 87a – ground wires

Wired it up like that diagram at least 10 times, just got clicking from the relay, no window movement

When you did this, did you change the felt as well? Just trying to figure out how far into it you were....just added relays and didn't rebuild/replace anything else?

one thing you can do, if you have a plug that will plug into the motor, is wire it up directly to a battery and see if it moves.

another easy try is to unplug one relay at a time and see if it will move.

Your motors could very well be dead, even new out of the box. I put the relay kit on my truck, it helped the pass side tremendously but didn't make a difference on the driver's side, so I knew the motor was weak. Went 8-10mo or so and then out of the blue both sides died for no apparent reason, even though the pass side had worked like new prior to that. I yanked out all the factory junk and installed a full NuRelic's kit on both doors.
