I don't know if it would have enough capacity for the hydro boost. I'm assuming this is why they run the remote reservoir.

Don’t the newer pumps have an integral reservoir? Seems like my 03 GMC did.

I'm just guessing,.. but I think it has to do with gravity and air. How do you get the air out of something as high as the brake booster when the sump is a foot lower?

Knowledge question for me to put in my memory bank. Does the 80 1-ton have hydro boost? I've only had 81+ 1-tons and both had hydro boost.

I do have hydroboost and air bleeding i dont think would be an issue because air would still rise in the integrated tank once it gets forced through wouldnt it?

I want to replace the alternator bracket with one with a real tension adjustment other than pull on it and tighten which would require me to relocate the power steering fluid reservoir.

Has anyone relocated it elsewhere or used another tank somewhere in the engine bay?

If air rises it's going to the highest point in the system.

I'm sure you could locate the reservoir to another spot as long as you maintain the height.

Yes, I should make a build thread as I am deep into this thing

Here's a picture in a 68 truck, but I'm sure you could mount it on the core support or the L/F fender area.

Looks like this one has the tank on the pump and it would be lower than the hydroboost
