I thought I'd share info.

Machinist's Workshop magazine actually tested penetrants for break out torque on rusted nuts. Significant results! They are below, as forwarded by an ex-student and professional machinist, Bud Baker.
*Don't forget the April 2007 "Machinist's Workshop" magazine comparison test.*
*They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrants with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment. *
Penetrating oil ....... Average load*
None ........................ 516 pounds
WD-40 ..................... 238 pounds
PB Blaster ............. 214 pounds
Liquid Wrench ..... 127 pounds
Kano Kroil .............106 pounds
ATF-Acetone mix..53 pounds

*The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50 - 50 automatic
transmission fluid and acetone.*
*Note the "home brew" was better than any commercial product in this one
particular test. Our local machinist group mixed up a batch and we all
now use it with equally good results. Note also that "Liquid Wrench" is
about as good as "Kroil" for about 20% of the price. *
*Your experience may vary, etc., etc.

You got a link to the tests? I do not know how they can perfectly control the rust conditions equally for each test, but it is good info if true.

I don't know about the testing, but I know for a fact this mix works. I even made mine with used trans fluid that was fairly clean. Does seem to work better then PB Blaster.

Yep, I bought like a pint can of Acetone, and mixed with with a 1/2 qt (pint) of trans fluid. I ended up putting it all in the 1qt trans fluid bottle, tearing the label off and hit it with some white spray paint so I'd know what it is. I put it in a dishsoap bottle to squirt it on things like u bolts on axles, or into cylinders of seized motors etc. I did get one sezied motor freed with it after soaking for 2 days. But it was a motor that got rained in, only sat for a week, so it wasn't to bad yet.

I'll be making a batch of it to try out when I attack my shock mounts. If it's as good as they say, hopefully that will be a great thing to use to free up 20+ year old brake line fittings without fuggin them up.
