I've been looking at my Cheyenne emblems ever since I bought my truck and just felt they looked wrong being bare. I liked the idea of color in these emblems like many other square body models had. I'm sure they were designed to have been painted but then some bean counter nixed it at the last second to save a few pennies per truck. Anyway, I decided to do mine in the colors I think Chevrolet would have used back in 1977. I'm happy with the results. Your thoughts?
Cheers, Greg

Edit: I probably should have taken a picture before to show them bare.

Looks good. Originally the emblems would have had some color in them though, it just fades out over time.

Yes, they had some color but only the red part like the repros that FireTruck1984 posted above. The "Cheyenne" part came bare from Chevrolet and just looked wrong to me. I'm sure they were originally designed to have color like the Blazer emblems did but eventually Chevy started to cheap out on the little things (lol).

It just depended on the trim level. The Silverado emblems got a light gold color in the letters. Custom Deluxe got black paint.

But that doesn't really matter. I like what you did, lol.

Thanks Juggernaut, (and thanks for all the likes, guys!)
I used a Rust-Oleum product, available at any Home Depot or Lowes, etc. I'm not usually a big fan of Rust-Oleum because of their exceedingly long dry time (24 hours, ugh!) But once it's finally dry it's very durable with excellent non fade quality. The color is called Gloss Marigold and is a very good match to the original Chevrolet color. Also works nice with the 1977 only yellow striped side trim.
Cheers!

They look great. Perhaps a new part-time business opportunity?

And Scottsdale was yellow.

Never like it.

Painted it black on my '80; removed them on my '87.
