Think I should paint it or leave it. Its says there
  • Made with corrosion-resistant, OE-approved Ecokote steel for durability
Its got a grease all over it now so its going to be a bugger to clean.

I doubt its necessary but I did both of mine. When I dismantled the truck, the only area that had heavier corrosion and rust was the tanks because of those plastic tubs they surround them with were packed full of leaves and garbage. I got rid of those and POR 15'd /top coated them, then sprayed Rhino-liner on the bottom halves. Probably overkill, but I'm not right either.

I did similar to what Doppleganger did but kept the plastic tubs. Make sure that you still get a good ground from the sending unit to the frame or your fuel gauge will not work.

Don't mind the junkyard of square parts in the background...

E coat will last a while. If you got tank guards. If it’s gonna be an all weather truck I’d consider paint/undercoat etc.

I like the undercoating idea. Mine is just the silver they come as (mine is AMD instead of Spectra but still). I'll probably clean and paint it black next time it's down just because it stands out

Ok ill paint it. You will kinda see the sides of it and it will stick out like a sore thumb with everything else black. Thanks.

My body mounts came in today so now I'm under the gun to get it done.

I got a couple shots of mine today in the warehouse. The bright silver does stick out like a sore thumb. My truck is fixing to be ripped completely back apart so I'll either go rear tank (and paint it) or paint this one. But as you can see, the coating that comes on them is plenty durable. My truck is no trailer queen, it's been all over the southeast and out to AZ and back in the last two years, roadtripping with friends. Other than some dirt and a few rock scratches, it's all still there

Rubberized undercoating works great too. Degrease it and run ground wires to frame.
