Greetings to all, I recently bought a 1982 K20 that has been sitting for 10 years or more. I sold a 73 k10 a few months ago. Amazingly enough the 82 runs, drives shifts, steers pretty good. The factory AC still has Freon . It was converted to R134 in 1999, cools a little but needs new accumulator, flush, etc. Appears to have 48,000 original miles, and the way it runs I believe it. Has fender well rust holes but should be repairable with time and talent. The original owner put an Edelbrock carburetor, but she’s otherwise all stock. So I plan to correct as many mechanical issues first with the information you folks obviously have available here. Appreciate all the years of expertise you all share. I decided to address the dry rotted vacuum lines and vent hoses first. As soon as I touched the EFE TVS and EGR/Purge/TCC TVS, the port nozzles broke off. Not sure if I can find replacements or not. I know that many guys frown on bypassing any original configurations. I get it that those items were installed for a reason, but I don’t live in a state requiring Emission testing, on the other hand I’m not a fan of adding any more none friendly Ozone damaging fumes. Well anyway that’s my introduction about my truck. As for me personally, I’m recently retired 66 year old guy that gave 40 plus years to the US Army and Navy.
