Oil pressure gauge

Mom oil pressure gauge is maxed out over 80 with motor on or off does not matter is it time for a new gauge or is there a way to fix it or test it

I think you can just test the sender to see if its shorted. There should be a service manual to show the procedures.

Is it electric or mechanical? In other words, is there a plastic or copper tube going into the back of the gauge?

If you can’t easily get to the back of the gauge, the sender usually comes out of the engine near your dizzy. You’ll either see a wire or a tube or both if your oil warning light is still hooked up.
