A little spring fell out of my wiper switch and I cannot figure out how to get the knob off the switch to see if I can reseat it as I think I know where it goes. I still have my push for washer fluid so not sure the need for this little spring. Any help is appreciated.

I ordered a new wiper switch from LMC. It was listed as the correct switch for my year truck. When installed, when I turn the ignition on, every once in a while, the wipers will just start. When I called LMC and told them, they looked into it and said that the switch was for trucks "without" cruise control. My truck has cruise control is a OER for the original cruisemaster which is the little button on the end of the signal switch. My wiper switch is on the dash. So I reordered the switch for a truck "with" cruise control. When I received it, the connections are not correct. The connections on the other where correct.

So why all of sudden will a repro switch, or supposedly repro, doing this? It didn't happen with my original switch. And now LMC says I cannot return the switch after being installed so I am out $24.95 plus shipping. I think it is a faulty switch, but I do not want to eat another $24.95 if it isn't. Any suggestions?

I am seriously considering going to my bone yard and clipping out many wiper switches and see if I can get one that works.

Thoughts/suggestions/help is appreciated.

Okay, was able to get the knob popped off. Now, does the plastic piece go in first or the spring? Since I didn't see it come out, I have no idea and maybe nobody does either. Just checking.

I have had my GMC since new and every once in a while it will wipe the window once. I know that nothing has been replaced and have just written it off as the intermittent wiper farting. Only a problem if you have driven through a bunch of bugs it does the mush on your window when you don’t want it to. My brother had a square body that did the same thing except he was sure it was related to distance travelled lol I don’t think so but???

I ran into this a few months back. Every time I hit a pot hole or overpass ramp the wipers did a pass.

I unplugged all of the electrical connections on the intermittent control, as well as the wiper motor itself. I cleaned the connections up, added dielectric grease and put it back together.
Has not been a problem since.

Years ago when I had a 77 suburban and you could still get parts at gm dealers I put intermediate wipers on it and my suburban started to do that and I asked the dealer about it and they said it was a phantom wipe they didn’t know why but others also have done it

Sacrifice a chicken and dance naked around the truck with it while babbling incoherently.

Mine does it sometimes too. I've noticed I can trigger it with the A/C control.

Okay, let's try this.

Here is a circuit that worked for mid to late '80s Intermittent Wipers in solving the 'Phantom Wipe'.
It's worked on hundreds of Fieros'.

One side to ground and the other goes to the pulse trigger or low speed power line (I don't remember which).

3 parts, cheep.

I have the same options you do. Mine started the wipe crap when you start the truck. I disconnected the top plug on the wiper motor under the hood (its the one that tells the wipers they are parked) and cleaned the contacts. That ended the phantom wiping.
