Noob to Squarebody’s

Hey guys, just bought my 1st sq body 2 weeks ago, for my daughter, and learning it was somebody else’s project. The cab is an 87 r10 but sits on a 4x4 frame. I do know the transfer case is a np205 from a 78. My question is is there a way to determine what year steering components I have? I need to replace some stuff underneath and noticed on LMC they have steering parts for 76-80 or 81-87. Don’t know which to buy or if it’s that big of difference.

The aforementioned "76-80" perhaps refers to a Dana 44 front axle.
Though I was sure chevrolet stopped using a Dana 44 for a front axle right about 1978-1979



Where they say "81-87" they're referring to a 28 spline corporate 10 bolt axle. Which again, seems more like 79-80 all the way to 87.

8.5 ring gear.


In your pictures, I can clearly see its a corporate 10 bolt, 8.5

So the aforementioned "81-87" front axle parts is what you need

For viewers wondering why I didn't say 88-91 in the k5 and burb.....

Those years were the 30 spline corporate 10 bolt (front or rear)

Also I don't think it really even matters besides the physical steering arm and knuckle itself between a d44 and 10b, maybe outer hubs? You mentioned steering parts tho, so... stick with the 81-87 stuff advertised.
