How's it going everyone. I'm new to the forum and also the squarebody generation. I recently purchased a 1983 swb k10 6.2l diesel 4x4 out of a field. Someone in the past has already swapped in a sbc 350 mated to a 700r4 np208 setup. That will be goimg bye bye because I also purchased a wrecked 2003 2500hd with a 6.0l lq4 and 4l80e. I will be building this truck with intentions of keeping all factory options I.E A/C p/s cruise control 4x4. My first ls swap so this should be fun and interesting.

I plan on staying pretty steady on this build with end goal being mid to late February for completion of full frame/paint/interior restore with the swap. I entertain advise as I go! Thanks for having me.

Progress pics!

So I've had a little time here and there to tinker on this thing. I managed to pull the donor 6.0 and I think everything I'm going to need for the swap. I set the motor aside and planned tearing it down later to add a cam and machine the heads . but for now it's staying in tact to mock up before I pull the cab off the frame of the 83.

I then pulled the tired old sbc 350 and 700r4 trans from the 83 and plan on posting it on Craigslist to add to the build fund. I plan on keeping the np208 that everyone hates to mate to my 4l80e.

Things I still need:
Harness re-work or aftermarket still unsure advice is recommended.

Trans to transfer case adapter to mate my np208 to 4l80e trans. Need to research a little harder to find the right cast and p/n.

Fuel lines and pump.

Still unsure of how I'm going to Shift gears. Not sure if there is a kit to retro to column shift of 83 from linkage to cable style? Feel free to chime in...

Things I have:
Dirty Dingo mounts.
32 spline input shaft to convert np208 from 27 spline.
Plan on using radiator from donor to keep OEM hoses and trans lines. Very unsure of fitment on the 83's Rad support. haven't seen others do this so I'm interested in the idea. chime in if I'm missing a thread with one in it.
A friend is a local tuner so pcm will be reflashed by him and tuned for cam and C/R bump.

I might get a little crazy and attempt the electrical aspect and try to use the gauges out of the 03. Researched a tad on schematic and doesn't seem too far out of reach. I'm more concerned with fitting it in the dash and it not looking ridiculous. I'd love to see someone else's if it's been done.

PLEASE feel free to beat me up on this, and or help guide me. First frame off build of mine and first ever swap. going of others trial and error to my benefit and used the heck out of the search button. but I'm a rookie and might be missing some stuff.

Google is going to be your friend. I used it, along with looking around in here and LS1 tech, for information for my build. Im not alot of help, as most of my build was aftermarket. But for fuel supply, most guys are switching over to an 87 fuel tank, sender and then retro-fitting a 255 or 340 aftermarket fuel pump onto the sender. There are some pics in my build if you want to look at them. (link to build in my signature)

Good luck to ya and Im looking forward to your build!
