Hi. I'm new to this forum, and new to the chevy world as well. I had to chuckle when making my profile because of the "Model" requirement. One reason for joining this forum is to get help figuring out the model of the truck I have.
I have a 1985 Chevy Wrangler, 6.2L diesel that came with a farm I purchased.

I can't find anything on this model! Sierra's, Scottsdales, ... but not Wrangler. When I try to purchase parts, the word "wrangler" is not listed under any headings. Can anyone tell me what type of body type/frame this vehicle has, or point me in the right direction to get more information about the model?

Welcome to the fun.

Here is some info I ran across on the wrangler package http://www.73-87.com/Special_Editions/wrangler.htm
These older trucks ran on a fairly easy system C for 2wd and k for 4wd then 10 for 1/2 ton, 20 for 3/4 ton and 30 for 1 ton trucks.
By the picture of your truck I would say a k20 solely based on the semi float rear axle, 8 lugs, and front locking hubs.

Thanks for the feedback. I found a VIN-website that seems to indicate that it's a K20 as well. I'm planning on using it as a plowtruck, so trying to determine the load rating for the front suspension.

Thanks again!

Oh, that's easy...less than an 8' plow installed with a 6.2l, lol. Seriously though, the one's I've had that were K20's sagged in the front over time with the weight of a full sized 8' plow. I have an '82 K20 that has 4" tough country ez ride springs in the front with an 8' western full hydraulic with extensions and while I never even got to use it as a plow rig (motor dead on purchase), it was set up like that for 8 years and springs not sagged at all. Not sure if the stock 10 bolt will hold up over long time of plowing since the axle in that one has gear slop and needs everything replaced in it. My new plow project (81 K30) has a nice dana 60 king pin front in it, should be plenty strong.

I was reading my original 1985 sales brochure and recently found out there was a light duty K20 for 81-87 trucks. If you have the RPO code C6P then it has a GVW of 8600 LBS, if not it's 6600. It looks like on a diesel the front suspension capacity is 3800 LBS. Rear is 6000 and 5700.
