Yeah, Its a beautiful place to live. We are 49th in wages tho. Low paying jobs and housing is expensive, depending on where it is i guess. I live in the bitteroot where it is spendy for what you get.

Welcome!! My in-laws live down the bitteroot and my parents are in Frenchtown so I am in your area from time to time. I also have a rusty beatup old truck (well- the body is anyway, pretty much everything under it has been replaced).

Sorta the road this old truck is headed down. I will order an engine this tax time, Or if it blows up before then. Not much chance of it blowing up, I keep it full of oil and dont flog it too hard. But once the engine has been replaced, it will be a solid old rig. I dont think I will ever put the type of money in it to make it fancy. If you do any snow runs near me let me know.

There is a 4x4 club in Missoula that I've been on a few trips with:

http://www.montanabackroads.org/

A lot of Jeeps, but there are a few full size Chevy's also. The group is led by Willy Worthy who used to be an editor for 4 Wheeler magazine. He wrote a book that talks about different roads/trails in Western MT. I've only done the Magruder Corridor Road so far.

I've tried to turn my truck into a very capable trail and off road rig that isn't too tall. Need for it to still fit in the garage and be able to pull my 5th wheel trailer on occasion.

Keep thinking I'm done working on the truck and can enjoy it but something always comes up. I'm dealing with a mystery coolant loss lately.

I have the book, and have been around "willie" a few times. He's a special person for sure, not much filter between his mouth and brain. I have run several of the trails in the book when I had my Rubicon. But, new fancy Jeeps are a rich mans game. I never could let myself have all the fun I do with this truck and my old blazer.

Dont take my comments about willie as bashing him. But I have enough time around him to know he's not my style.

Which trails did you do? I wanted to do some of them with the mining history but haven't had a chance yet.
