Hello,
I'm a new owner of a 1979 GMC short-bed. Truck appears to be in great shape just a stock 4x4 w/o any extras. Looking to learn what I can about the Holly Sniper EFI, the NP203 transfer case and any and all suggestions to make this truck a fun, reliable daily driver. It's safe to say that I don't know what I don't know.
Thanks

Welcome from Austria! Nice truck. I would keep the carb and put a np205 twin stick in it. Gives you rwd and is pretty sturdy.

Welcome to the site. I would leave the carb but definitely trade the NP203 for a NP205. Milemarker and some other companies do offer a part-time kit for the NP203 but I'd recommend the NP205 swap.

Welcome.

My carbed c10 gets 12-15 mpg 350/350 3.73, here in NM (hot summers and cold winters) never had an issue with my q-jet or any well tuned carb for that matter.

As for the T-case Np203 can be converted to part time, unless your off road use requires the stronger NP205 in which case crossover steering maybe something to look in to.

These trucks are easy and fun to work on. Reliable and robust with lots parts available new/used/aftermarket.
