Hey, y'all from the Shenandoah Valley of beeeuteeful Virginia! I might have joined this forum a few years ago but never posted. Sooo..., I bought my '85 454 Dually in 2005 with 73,000 miles on it and added 40,000 since. Past projects - new dual tanks, shocks, partial quadrajet rebuild by my "quadraspecialist (now 11.3 mpg), new driver side electric door lock & window toggles, just replaced power steering pump and hoses and added filter along with 3 of 4 belts, replaced electric fuel pump (past owner add-on) with a Carter reefer fuel pump with 12' head (how far it will pull fuel vertical, I think) which has been great, replaced steel fuel line with braided line and AN fittings and relocated it away from alongside the exhaust pipes, added fuel pressure gauge and sending unit, new poly sway bar bushings front and back, replaced leaky oem radiator with BeCool aluminum (another story and lookin' for recommendations), replaced old slippin' clutch etc. & p plate with ceramic clutch along with the shaft bushings appropriate while tranny was out, and some other things I've probably forgotten.

Matter of fact, I was talkin' to my son the other day and told him I'm gettin' more forgetful as I get older and he said, "Naw, Dad, you were probably just as forgetful when you were young....You just don't remember!"

Well, here's a couple of pics of "Ol Brutus". I'll soon give it a wash & buffin'. No matter how hard I tried, I jus' couldn't keep anything growin' on that hood!

Come on in.

Instead of doing all that work on that old truck, you could just drive it out here to Texas and I'll take it off your hands and buy you a steak and a bus ticket back home. Purty good deal huh?

Nice truck

Howdy from Ohio!

I've spent quite a bit of time working/living down in your parts. A good portion of it has been spent in Elkton Va.

Well Andy, howdy back from Staunton VA!

I like li'l ol' Elkton. I've been goin' there or passing through since about 1977. About 2 trips a month up to the National Park puts us right through Elkton every summer. Luray is a nice place too. I escaped from the big city to VA on the coast as a young fella in '73 and fell in love with the Valley and Blue Ridge. It took years to get a job transfer up here and I love it. I especially liked Luray and Elkton and then found out about 15 years ago that my ancestors bought land and farmed in Luray from around the 1670's. Lotta grave markers in the Luray cemetery with their last name on it.

Happy to be on the forum!

My best friend lived in New Market until he passed a couple of years ago. I was born in the Naval hospital in Portsmouth right after the war. The caverns area is just gorgeous.
