Hello, my name is Coy, from Oklahoma, this is my '79 Chevy shortwide... I bought it a couple weeks ago, it has a crate 360hp/350c.i. th400 trans, shift kit, B&M shifter, 3:73 posi, 18" rims, Belltech 3"-4" lowering kit, and I will start a build page soon as I figure out more about this site.

Bought this truck for $1500.00, seems like a good start for a truck build...:rockit:

Thanks! Several of my buddies insist I keep the paint the way it is... I dunno though. Some interior work, and paint is really all it needs...

I would tend to agree. It has that perfect "solid old truck" look.

That's what they say, I agree... I plan on adding nitrous later, I think it would be more humiliating to lose to a truck with a bad paint job... Nitrous or not... The last vehicle I had was a '89 Dodge Caravan with a 2.5 turbo 4 cyl., ran 13.5 @ 102 on street tires. I like to surprise my competition... I hope a 125 shot on this combo will outrun the 13.5 best... :D

You sound like my mom's neighbor. He toy's with those 80's Mopars and has a turbo 2.5 Caravan that he also put in a 5 speed.

It is getting a bit popular these days to keep paint the way it is like that on these older vehicles, and just use a cheap spray gun and shoot it with clear to preserve what you got and stop any surface rust. Why??? I don't know, but I've seen it done, and heard it suggested several times. I guess it's kinda like an old dried wood frame barn. They are quite Nostalgic these days. You're buddies might be right. And really, no need to shoot clear. Just wash it, and wax what you have will add a layer of protection.
