This is my neutral safety switch. I think. Currently it has only 2 wires going to it. The tie into the harness on the steer column. It does not appear to be the correct gauge for the back up lights.

I Just see a thinner blue and green wire.

Is this even a neutral safety switch?

Am I missing something ?

I ordered a new one for this truck but it looks different.

Mine old one does not have the 2 7mm bolts holding it on. Seem like the new one has holes for the bolts. But I don’t see any.

Currently the truck starts and has no back up lights

Any ideas

That might be the backup light wires, not the NSS. It should be an integrated backup/NSS switch. However, on my truck the backup light wires are dark green and light green.

The NSS wires use a two wire plug, and it has a 12 gauge purple wire on both terminals. The switch just “breaks” the connection for the wire to the starter if the truck is not in neutral or park.

You can bypass the NSS using a jumper wire with spade terminals inserted into the plug. Mine was bypassed when I got the truck because the shifter linkage was out of adjustment and the switch didn’t work right.
