I assume I need to get the pinch bolt out on the handle so I can slide the shaft out, but there's no screw head on the bolt and tapping on the bolt threads on the other side doesn't seem to want to make it budge.
I don't want to screw anything up.
Do I simply need to use more force on the bolt, or is there an easy trick I can't figure out?

I found a video on youtube (for installing a light) that showed the handle sliding off, said nothing about removing the wedge bolt at that point.
Maybe I just need to pull like mad and use some WD-40 on it ??

Got it off, found a spot for better leverage, WD-40 and twist and PULL and I got it off.
Now, I got some body work and repainting to do because whoever installed the light bungled the hole and I need to re-drill the screw holes for the new light.
I don't want another ugly truck, I already have one I drive .........

One way or another, I WILL make the new one work.
The old one was too short on the shaft sticking inside the cab and the handle would hit the dash pad limiting its rotation.
The new light is about 4 inches longer and should clear the dash nicely.

In theory, and as long as those pesky space aliens leave me alone, it'll work.

Lmao!! I sure hope it does for ya Kevin!! Those are handy lights to have!

Shakey,
As long as game & pfish department don't see me using it at night I'm okay.
According to AZ game laws, they can write me a citation for spotlighting game illegally if the light is used at night, even if I'm not spotlighting game.

And the space aliens just messed with me and caused me to type a silent p in the text.

I slid the new light in to check the fit, and the handle hits the dashpad........... maybe I needed one yet another 4 inches longer.
Or, do some bodywork and drill another hole in a higher location.

Damn space aliens. Can you change the angle? It is nice when they tuck into the corner.

Unity lists one of their longest shafts for the squares:

Yes, the mounting holes may be in the wrong location. Also you may not have the correct mount. Should be number 27. It will be cast on the underside of the mount. The Unity site will also let you print out the mounting template for some of the mounts, but #27 is not one of them.

I am making the assumption, that you have the Unity brand light. If you need the template I am sure I have a copy I could send you.
