Hi all,
I’m new to this site and joined because a lot of good info is only found here.

I have a new to me RV motorhome. The front end is a 1984 gmc vandura g3500 5.7L A/T.

I’ve only driven it a couple times and now the temperature gauge always reads low maybe about 10% off from the lowest. This wasn’t the case the first time I drove it .

So I’m looking to change the temp gauge Sensor. I looked for around a half hour after looking back and forth for pics to get an idea where it is but for the life of me cannot find it. Here’s a pic to get an idea. There’s not a whole lot room to work with but I looked all over the block, traced the cooling system down as best I could and tried to look at any harness wires knowing what the sensor should look like, but no luck . I’m hoping someone who knows this system better can give some advice as I feel like I’m looking in the wrong spot but everything online suggests it’s the right area to look. Thanks in advance.

It should be a single green wire going to the front driver side head. Between number 1 and 3 exhaust ports. 15/16 socket I believe. Good luck! I hate working on vans with a burning passion.

Thank you, I’ll take a look again. Yes this is my first time working this can and I can see why you hate it. Even taking the battery out had some small challenges.

It may be near the thermostat on a van if not in the head, there's also a possible spot on the passenger head between 6 and 8.

I've worked on more motor homes than vans. But have done both many times, pulled quite a few engines as well. I'd really love to have an old van, but wow I would not want to build/maintain one, old new, doesn't matter.
