Ok so i found a 208 with a 32 spline input and adapter. Opened it up wasnt completely satisfied so i pulled it apart and swapped input shafts with the 27 spline unit i had from the truck. Only to find out the out put shaft on my trans is 1 and 5/8s inchs to long. Its a 2wd th400 out of a 1 ton van. (Bolt on yoke). I did alot of internal work to this trans and it worked well in my Chevelle so i want to reuse it. (I had a special slip yoke made for it to work in my car.) Any way does any one know does any one make a spacer to take up this space or do i just have it machined?

I'm not aware of a spacer for the th400, although it would be nice if one was available. Have you tried contacting Advance Adapters?

I am having one made out of 6061 aluminum. I will post pics when its done. I am having it made to be 1.750" thick to give an .125 gap so the output shaft doesnt bottom out. Just finished my solid trans mount. Used parts of the oem mount with a piece of 1.5" square tube to duplicate original dimensions.

If i was to cut it id use my portaband but the fixed yoke 400 has a ridge that the yoke sits against along with an o-ring groove. This would still not allow the transfer case to slide on far enough. Also it would only give me 1.250 spline engagement and im not comfortable with that. Pictured is the output shaft yellow line indicates what would be left of the shaft.

If you don't mind me asking, what's a ballpark figure on having that spacer made? I'd bet there's folks out there that would want one.

Dont mind at all. Keep in mind i got the material for free its a 3x7x11" piece. The labor was estimated at 100 to 150 but im trading parts i have laying around for labor and i told him whats left is his. He is my goto guy for engine and other machining needs. I will post up pics of the finished product. I had him put 2 half inch tapped holes in either side so i can add supports if i feel the need.

Its a bit chunky but will serve me well. Just have to fit it to the adapter. I picked it up at 11 last night. Kinda anxious to keep moving forward April is rapidly approaching.

Isn't the TH400 output 32 spline? You did say you put a 27 spline input shaft into the 208 right? I might be confused/missing something.

I like the adapter and have often wondered if one could be custom made for less than what some places charge.

I swapped in a 32 spline input where a 27 once was. They way i look at it anything can be made, you just gotta surround yourself with the right people.
