No idea. It was laying with a bunch of parts. They all, to my knowledge, came off that truck. The parts. some are junk, duplicates, and some are ones that were supposed to go on but never made it that far

@Goldie Driver it also has vacuum line fittings. And electrical connector. could it possibly be a control valve for electric fans? It's strange but it'll it's the only thing that makes sense to me

Looks like some piece of smog pump hardware. The gray plug is what GM used on diverter valves.

I just attempted to look it up . Definitely a diverter based on shape, but the thermostat thing is unique. Federal emissions, don't know why it's special compared to my search. Either way, I'll keep it on hand because of rarity, never know when a Californian needs a 78 400 diverter valve

Edit, I don't know it's Cali just spitballing. Pretty sure it is fed emissions but who knows

Seems like smog accessories, like a valve that opens and closes and lets garbage into your motor

Edit, just saw the other posts lol

I dunno WTH that is - my 80 has 2 Ported Vacuum Switches on the thermostat housing but they look nothing like that, and have no electrical connections.

I cannot imagine a 78 being that "high tech" :anitoof: but :

1) Whadda I knows ?

2) Am curious to sees if some gene-yess here's kin learns me !

:)
