i dropped the rear with jeep tj coils (they drop the rear 4'' and are a bolt in thing) and 1.5'' blocks and put a 5 lug 12 bolt out of a 76.

the front has 2.5'' drop spindals and the torsion bars turned down about 2''
the spindals use the 5 lug brake rotors.

when i got the truck years ago it had sit for years with no hood and no air breather the motor is locked up solid it is a 283

until about a month ago all i had done to the truck was put a hood on it and move it around.

it was a step side i had a fleetside trailer so i swapped the beds. it made dropping the rear and axle swap easy and i like fleetsides better.

my plan is to put a 305 out of a 85 trans am i parted out in it with a 700r4 and just make it run and drive good and drive it as is.

i need to find some good fenders maybe two totally different colors i want to leave it junkyard camo just for ***** and giggles.

make it drive awsome but look like a beater even leave the general lee wheels on it.

maybe some day if i get caught up on projects do the body work and paint it.

i have a 63 that i want to get done nice before this 61

I had a '61 in the orange & white, sold it to a friend years ago, have no idea what ever happened to it. Sold my '66 here this spring, been kicking myself ever since. These are some of the coolest trucks out there even if they dont have the following of the other model years. Chevy never should have done away with the rear A-arm suspension.

my first ride was a 63 chevy longbed 2 wheel drive.
over the years i have made it a short bed then a 4x4 short bed and that is how it sits in my back yard right now.

i also have another 63 2 wheel drive short bed and my 64 mud truck project kleedus.

60 to 66 is my favorite body style

and ya i agree the rear trailing arm suspension rides really smooth i have been thinking about putting it in my 2 wheel drive blazer and my 85 c10.
the 85 c10 would be a easy swap to the trailing arms.
the blazer frame is wider right where the cross member mounts so it would be harder to swap in.
