I bought this 1984 K 2500 4x4 Suburban in San Francisco 10 years ago, and every time it rains water drips on the front driver floor adjacent to the cowl by the hinge post. Passenger side is worse, the carpet is always soaking wet and I have to lift up the carpets to let them dry to stop it from rusting. Any help here as to where the leak is coming from? In the cowl I guess???

I love the paint scheme on you Burb.

When I bought a new hood for my '74 it was red, and I liked how it contrasted with the ochre of my truck.

Instead of painting the whole thing, I only painted up to the body lines, and it turned out really good.

Thank you, a friend of mine 300 miles away painted the truck, it turned out really good, but seven years later it's ready for a bunch of paint work. I haven't driven it pretty much since that picture was taken, it's been stored indoors while I tinker it with a couple of other newer Suburbans

If I could have anyone paint my yellow truck, it would be him.

I am only a senior in high school with a crappy part time job, it is not like I can afford a lavish restoration right now.

A lot of these things leak in the cowl area. The seam sealer gets rusty behind it a d around in in the cowl area and water leaks down into the cab on the inside of the firewall. Also they will rust through and drink into the engine compartment as well.

Yes, that's me, and we spruced it up a bit yesterday.

Did not really fix any holes yet, but we did grind down any loose rust/paint, and sprayed some rusty metal primer on it.

I also buffed where the clear coat had pealed with some boiled linseed oil.

Check the seam inside the wiper cowl area-thats a common leak area. Also, on the RH side, the heater core hoses have a type of a thick foam seal (which nobody repros but BUT a 1969 Camaro with a 396 motor has one that Classic and others offer aftermarket-it fits the same) and over time it shrinks and lets water cascade right in there! The design of the firewall above the AC box almost looks like it was designed to catch and re-route water lol!

To replace the foam seals however the whole AC enclosure must come off-its a pita sometimes.
