It is my understanding that some trim levels offered factory courtesy lights. Anyone have a good photo or description of where these would mount? I have a set from Painless and have wiring all sorted out, but needing advice on where to mount them. Thanks in advance.

You should at least include what you're working on. year, model, trim level etc...
Lot's of changes through the years and trim levels

Here ya go. These are the painless ones as well. No actual LED equivalent due to metric versus SAE unless you bend the sockets (per people at super bright LED.com)

I believe the only factory mounted one was in the center of the dash below the hvac ducting. Pretty much right below the ash tray.

I swapped the underdash courtesy lamps from a Silverado into my GMC years ago. The mounting holes are already under the dash.

There are plenty of mounting hole options under the dash. I’m betting the decision will be easier once you run the wires under the dash. How generous Painless is with the wire lengths will determine where they go.

I actually put 3 of the courtesy lights in one just to the right of glove box another dead center of the center hump and one above the gas pedal very easy to splice the wires and tie them up on the bottom lip of dash
