I just got my spare fixed. When I bought the truck it was just in the bed.

Where I presume the spare tire goes (underside in back of bed I see what looks like a tire mount) but I don't see anything to hold it in place, nothing to thread into / onto and nothing that would cap the tire.

Does it usually come with a lock or anything or any additional hardware I'm not seeing to hold the spare?

A picture of what you have would help.

This is what the spare looks like on my '85, although it's not 100% original. Pretty close though.

It is a 2wd long bed and the top of the picture is the very back of the truck I'm pretty sure, for reference.

I was missing all the spare wheel stuff for my truck when I got it also. I ended up getting one of those wind up spare wheel carriers from a toyota 4wd , locating it in the chassis rails and bolting it down. To get the winder handle through, l hole sawed through the rear cross brace & the license plate panel. I fitted one of those flip down, spring return license plate holders to cover the hole. To access, flip it down and slide the winder handle through.

The hanger bolt has been cut off (red box). The red arrow points to a similar hole to where the other side drops down from. It will be closer to the rear of the frame, like the second photo.

Photos 3 & 4 are the mount I have for my truck, but couldn't used due to it interfering with my aftermarket hitch. In photo #4, you can see mine is set up for a 16" wheel. The 15" used the two open holes on the left side, which slides the bracket over to the right.

Thanks again Craig that's extremely helpful.

I noticed the bolt over there looking suspicious.

That's what I was going to do before I came across the parts I needed for the factory mount. I may still put the winch in since the wheel and tire is heavy and it's hard to get it high enough to engage the threads on the lock.
