Well, I'm a little perplexed at the moment. Knocked out my tune up yesterday evening, but noticed some things and may open it back up this morning.
1. One of the tips from the cap was MIA and found it in the wire head. The tab in the underside of the cap was also missing, so I am assuming it could be laying on the module and will need to check it our before firing it up.
2. I might be missing a ground tang from the coil. Just watched a video and noticed that there's another tang I didn't have, but my harness has the wire to the position. I doubt it fell out because I had to use needle nose pliers to get the other two out. Are all the distributors the same? Am I short a tang? I do have the black coil ground on the top present though.

Other than these lingering mysteries I think it's going to be a big benefit. So much carbon build up under the cap and on the rotor!

Some aftermarket setups have that ground wire. Some aftermarket and I believe all GM setups used that removable ground terminal like in your first picture. Either works, you don't need both.

Thanks. Found no evidence of one existing prior so I'm going to go as is. Man fishing that little blade out was a PITA. Glad I have a El cheapo boroscope from the Harbor, some picks and grip tape. 30 mins later and I fished it out from under the module. Now to hookup that last plug wire and light the fires!

Not all got grounds from the factory, don't know why. Back when these vehicles were new and due for the first tune up, I check for those straps. Many were missing. Could buy straps in bulk. We always stocked them.
