Key position for acc?

I always thought the accessory position on the ignition was back one towards the rear. I see the column says lock in that position. Is the accessory position on the key one forward? Everything works then, but I also hear the fuel pump spin up. Is this ok to leave in this position for extended periods, like parked listening to the radio?

Mine is one click back for accessory. However, it’s also flaky about reliably making the electrical connection for accessory, although all the other key positions work fine.

Are you saying your doesn't click one notch back from lock? Or is it ok to use either key position?
With ignition "on" (1 click forward from lock), I doubt it hurts anything, never had an issue and I'm sure plenty of times left key on for extended periods.
Your fuel pump should prime and then shut off after 2-3seconds, if not cranking or engine running. If it doesn't (like my jerry rigged elect pump currently) then I would not leave the key "on". Other functions are operable with key on as well, everything that is on with truck running, like heater fan and other accessories that may be excluded from the accessory position.

Accessory is one click back from lock. Lock allows you to remove the key - accessory should not, but I have had some sloppy worn out OE keys that could be removed while the truck was running before.

The accessory position should cause less power drain as only things like the radio are powered whereas the on position powers pretty much all the circuits.

For a short time frame probably not an issue, but for an extended duration with a sketchy battery I could see starting issues afterwards.
