So i just bought an 84 3+3 1 ton (40.5" sprimg perch span). The truck came with 2 14 bolt axles from a 3/4 ton (42.5" spring perch span) one with 4.56s and on with 4.10s. Im not sure what gearing im going to need when all is said and done with my build and i need to get an axle mounted so im wondering if i was to get the hangers from a k20 and put them on my 3+3 would that give me the same span or am i thinkong about this wrong?

It will get your spacing correct. You will need to drill some new holes in the frame to run the K10/20 front hanger. The rear hanger is a direct swap. You will also need to do something with the shock mounts.

Drilling new holes isnt an issue as the truck also came with 8 inch lift springs but they are 52s and the stock ones are 56s. Ive heard of guys just swapping sides to go from 52s to 56s. Can i do the same thing in reverse or are the mounting locations different?

Swapping sides is referring to the aftermarket "shackle flip" brackets that are available. They are made offset so they work with either spring. So if you are using those, your are golden. Otherwise you will have to drill new holes in the frame to mount the rearmost spring hangers forward 4 inches. Most trucks have both sets of holes already, but since 1 tons always had 56 inch springs, I don't think any of them have the extra set of holes.

Also, if you remove your K30's spring hangers and are willing to ship them, I'd be interested. I like to put them on Suburbans.

What does that do for Burbs????.

Well, truth be told, I've only done the one so far. But chances are good the next burb will get the same treatment.

The main goal is having a 1 ton axle bolt right in. The other thing they do is let you raise the back of the truck an inch or so, which gets rid of the common Burb "saggy ass" look.

this may be a dumb question, but what is the difference between the front hangers on a k20 and a k30?

Well, you need those for your good idea. That and the C hangers are a few inches shorter than the K hangers.

The one ton hangers mount the springs closer to the frame rails. Other than that they are basically the same. The K30 hangers are also a little taller overall because they have more area to mount to on the 1 ton frame.

Kurt at DIY4X is willing to make HD stock replacements from what I remember. I've got a pair of custom hangers he made to use the narrow 1 ton spacing on a '78-'91 K5 ( those rigs use a hanger all their own) and they are downright beefy.
