Hey guys, ended up buying a 84 k30 cab and cassis with 53,000 miles. trying to decide if I should do a aluminum flatbed or a steel. my plan is to paint the cab black and put on some black milled rims. Didn't know if anyone had any info on this or have done this. my final goal to do a cummins or drama swap eventually. Thanks for any input.

Come on in.
In my opinion, aluminum flat beds suck.

How long is the frame? If it's a normal longbed length, despite being old it's still pretty easy and cheap to find a real bed, don't have to go with a janky looking flatbed unless it's either too long of a frame, or maybe if you want to use the thing commercially or something then in that case, flatbed it up. But if the only reason you're thinking flatbed is because there isn't currently a bed on it, don't worry beds are still widely available for it, no need to change the look of the truck just yet if you don't want to. And if you do, that's cool too, just saying it is possible to keep the truck looking original if you're sitting here thinking it's not an option

right.....I see long beds a dime a dozen in good shape for around $500 if not less.
