I'm currently installing new leaf springs in the front of my K10. Got the U bolts tightened to 150 ft lbs (that was a beating) front leaf spring front bolt to frame at 90 ft lbs

Now it says torque the front leaf spring rear bolts that go into the shackle both at 50 ft lbs.. I'm currently at 25lbs and I hear the rubber like it could split.

Keep going to 50lbs? I just don't want to destroy the bushings and have to wait for another one.

Honestly this is the first time ive heard someone worry about torque ratings for suspension lol.

But those ratings from the book are for factory suspension and bushings.
Looks like your bushings are a bit... longer than factory?

Can’t say on stock shackle bushing torque, but sounds right.

Offroad Design’s shackle torque is the same.

45-50 for the shackle bolts is correct.

I bought the ones from LMC that are supposed to be for stock. They look like this..

I guess I'll just torque em down see what happens..

Evidently I'm not the only one.. I've seen a few post like this with similar problems. I'm going to take it off tonight and examine the length of the inner metal sleeve. It should be long enough to where (on the top bolt @ frame) it protrudes each side enough to allow for the rubber to compress but not be totally smashed.. The shackle plates should make contact with the inner sleeve and bottom out to allow the bolt to tighten to the proper torque.

That’s probably a good place to start. You don’t have to take loose your ubolts.I put new shackles and bushings using a pry bar one side at time.Used a chisel (big enough) to wedge between frame and spring eye.

Was done in about a 1/2 hr.

But I would only recommend if you feel comfortable and can do it safely.

One mistake I made, was putting the wrong bushings in the upper mount, but noticed it as I was tightening.Duh,the shackle was uneven.

Torque wrench and bolts probably key here.New bolts?Torque wrench accurate?

Turned out fine! Its just really really tight. Then I go and strip a steering gear mounting hole.. Go figure! I'm starting to think some of these torque values are a little high..
