Just putting my truck back together after a couple years. Started filling with coolant and started getting a leak through a small hole on the bottom of the water pump. Just want to know if the pump has to be replaced. I'll attach a picture. I was thinking maybe something is dried out and will stop leaking afterwards.

That’s the weep hole. When it leaks there it’s time for a new one. It’s an indicator. Sometimes even new ones leak from there a bit. But they tend to seal up. If yours was sitting I’d swap it.
Is it a newer one? it looks clean. Might be worth it to wait a bit. But I had some replacements that would leak every 8 months.
So it was my annual PM

Not new. I just threw some paint on it. It is probably well over 20 years old. I can't remember changing it since I got the truck in 1998

Just went to change the transmission fluid in the sm465. 3 or 4 drops came out. There were many things I neglected on this truck when I drove it for a few years in my 20's. It's been sitting on my parents farm for the last 20 years and my dad used it to pull things around a couple times a year

My gear oil came out in 3 different sections.
1) a very watery, yet still a oil fluid. Kinda like baby oil. flammable. about 1/4 of the fluid
2) very black gear oil that smelled rancid
3) chunks of metal shavings that were clung to.. im not sure. i never took photos but i couldnt name it. best thing i can comapre is bacon bits.

It sure made 1st(1st not Low) and Reverse quieter.

it also appears the hose clamp on the lower hose is not in the correct location. hose itself looks rough too. highdesertranger

If it's leaking it's bad. As cheap as they are replace it now to save trouble later

I think he just pushed the hose on. I'm thinking he just hasn't placed the clamp in the correct location
