As long as you don't spend more to repair any defects then what it cost to get a new hood its a win in my book.

be careful when removing the scoop.

just keep your tool parallel to the hood and dont pry on it. you will dent the piss out of the hood if you do.

Why pull the scoop? these hoods are very weak sometimes folding in the middle when shutting the hood. This scoop will give it extra strength because of the vertical lines. Unless you really hate it. Once cleaned up will give it character.

Think I could use a piece of nylon string (like dental floss) and get the adhesive to let loose?

If it was done right with the new adhesives out now your going to need piano wire and a pair of leather gloves.

Is the scoop the type with an inside flange?

Was the scoop just for looks or did the PO cut a hole in the hood?

Will paint stick to the scoop ,it’s plastic. Or should I tape it off and leave it black as is? I picked up the proper sandpaper to clean up the clear coat may just have to spray a couple coats of clear f I don’t go too far. If I do well I’ll get some dark blue and see what I can do.
