Long time admirer of US cars and trucks, had a couple of US cars over the years but always had an urge for a square body which are a bit rare over in England

Got a chance to buy one - but I have a bit of a newbie question.

I always wanted a 4x4, which I took to be a K10. I now have a chance of a 1987 Chevrolet K1500. Is this actually a K10 by another name?

Any tips for buying a one? - I have dealt the American v8s and gearboxes before and can handle most things, but I wondered if there was anything serious I need to watch out for.

I am hoping to LS swap it in the medium term - is this a straightforward swap?

Many thanks for any help.

Welcome from Texas. Check wiring so it's not all hacked up. Some po can really do a number on the wiring. Mine has some wiring issues and I'd wish I'd look into it a little better. But, oh well. The ls swap is not just a walk in the park and can get expensive. Then you'll have a computer to deal with. I bought mine so I wouldn't have to deal with all the computer ****. I have a 2000 camaro ss with a ls1 in it and I'm going thru computer **** right now and it's getting expensive and very annoying to say the least. Good luck. Hope it's worth buying.

Welcome from Wisconsin! I spent 12 years in England, 99-2011. Lived and worked in Portsmouth. I couldn't imagine trying to drive a sqaure body or any full size American truck there for that matter. I'm with keeping the original engine, but that's just me. Drive what you like, like what you drive....only if it's a product of God's motor corporation of course.
