Hello everyone! I'm a mechanical engineer in Alberta - hopefully I can share some technical knowledge and I hope to soak up as much as I can from your experiences!
My squarebody story is pretty neat. My fiance's late father bought a 1979 GMC Heavy Half brand new off the lot in Saskatchewan shortly after he was diagnosed with leukemia (maybe as a "take that! " to cancer). After he passed, the truck stayed in their family over the years and ended up in Alberta with them. It turns out that the truck was parked behind a shed and forgotten.
Now I've always been a gearhead, but I've never really had a proper project to work on. The most I've been able to do is tinker on my daily drivers (various Fords...I don't discriminate ). After I had been dating my fiance for a little while I got the story behind the truck and I figured I was up to the challenge to bring her dad's truck back to life. So we yanked it out from the bush and towed it down to Calgary. The plan is to get the truck road worthy in time for our wedding so we can surprise the family and have it emerge from hiding as our getaway vehicle
Then we'll use it! I don't want it to be a garage queen at all.
I've done a buttload of work already but I'll save that for a build thread, which I'll start tomorrow.
Cheers!
