I just bought a set of $173 flowtech headers that are ment for 73-87 2wd and 4x4.

But when i install the passanget side header its like a inch away from front driveshaft..

Is there a fix or what headers do i need to get

My truck had that exact same problem with the old engine and headers that the PO had installed. The tube closest to the front DS was dented to hell and gone! When I installed the 383, I got the Jegs headers (#30055 ) and those fit perfect. HTH

I have Dynomax headers and had the same issue, even with 4" lift and 6" lift. I had to start mine up, drive it around and get them hot, and with it idling put a floor jack under it (with a few short blocks of wood, my jack wasn't tall enough) and just ever so slightly bend them. They still rub slightly under heavy trail twist but at this point I really don't care anymore lol.

I had a set of dynomax for a stick shift 76 2wd that fit on the 86 k10 auto we had no problems at all. Now not sure on the jegs ones but the summit headers are the same as flowtechs even had a flowtech part no. on the box.

This is the second time today I've heard someone mention headers and transmissions in the same sentence like it matters what set of headers you get based on auto or manual tranny. Am I missin' something??

yea long tubes on linages for clutch and the clutch fork or slave cylinder. Some of them swoop back more and would hit the linkages, others go straight down to clear, mostly long tubes, not sure on shorties.

That doesn't make your ears bleed??? I did that for a 20 mile stretch to the muffler shop and my ears took all day to get back to normal again...

I love to fire em up with open headers, gonna do it soon as I get the trans back in the monte carlo.

I agree though over time man it gets bothersom or you keep hearing it long after it's gone. We drove to work for a week or so in dad's 84 with long tubes, about 3 ft. of pipe and cherry bomb extremes on each side, dumped right at the end of the cab under the seat, man was it loud. I heard that thing when I laid down to go to sleep at night.

I only run doug thorley tri-y headers on all my trucks , (big or small block). They are very thick , never leak , never warp , fit perfect and never rust out. They are worth the money IMO
