I wanted to check if there was any value to replacing my stock manifolds and disabled heat riser valve with shorty headers and a heat riser delete other than making #8 spark plug easier to change. I had long tubes on my other truck and there were performance gains with a 383, but the long block is a stock 350 on this truck. I’m attaching pictures of the parts I was looking at. I chose these parts, because it looked like a straight forward swap. Any constructive advice and feedback would be appreciated.

I'm going to say not huge gains. Swapping them is pretty simple if you can literally turn a wrench.

@Scott91370 Thanks. I didn’t think there’d be much of a change, but I was kind of hopeful. And, I agree it’s a simple change.

I would say the engine will see the benefit in efficiency of the package.
Perhaps not a huge gain on the butt dyno, but perhaps a reward with some extra fuel mileage.

Anything you can do to make the system flow well will be of benefit.
The stock manifolds cram all that exhaust into a common rail at an acceptable level.
The shorty headers, while not as great as long tubes should at least make the exhaust flow a simpler process with far less fighting between cylinders to escape the exhaust runners.

They probably will add some heat in that area so consider that too.

Hedders always better than manifolds any day.

Not exactly... the shorties don't have the scavenging effect long tubes have. Shorties start making a difference above 5000 rippems.
Comparing shorties to a cast manifold, well they are certainly easier to install or REMOVE... and they look nice!

Shorties don't need to be 'clearanced' like long tubes. And most likely will not need the starter wires moved back out of the way.

Still should clearance the tubes around the bolt holes to be sure your box end wrench gets in there.
