Is there an adjustment somewhere I don't know about? Or is something just out of alignment ... I have to lift up on the shifter in my 84 K10 in order to fully turn the key to start the truck.
I will need to replace the ignition switch before next winter (the grease gets too cold and it won't make contact to start the engine) and as long as I am messing with the steering column, I may as well address the shifter issue.

when you say "lift up", do you mean, up towards the headliner, or up towards the steering wheel?

Adjust the linkage at the transmission, there's a bolt with a spring washer. Loosen it up and slide it towards the hood just a tad and tighten it back up, the try it. If that doesn't work, its your lock cylinder in you column.
