I have the “hard starting after sitting a few days’ issue on my ‘77 GMC C15. I’ve read through several of the posts and gained a lot of good info but still having the issue. I’ve taken the windowed seat out and replaced it with one that isn’t, I’ve cleaned and put epoxy on the plugs, and made sure the filter has the check valve. All that to still have the hard start issue after it sits for 3 or 4 days. Any suggests of what I may have overlooked or suggestions of something else to investigate? Any/all input is welcomed. Thanks.

i am sub-novice skill/understanding level but i'll share my sure-fire startup
;)

turn key on, half a beat while my chinamart tach 'calibrates' itself.
slow press of gas pedal to floor with slow release.

crank truck. 1thousand one, 1thousand two, 1thousand three (maybe a 1thousand four)
-if truck fires then sweet, else:
turn key off, go back to beginning of turn key on routine.

weeks sitting, starts reliably on second 'sequence'.
even this frozen blizzard weather this week here in missouri, fired up on 2nd sequence.

this is not the same as your truck of course.
mine is an 85 k20 super double xtra heavy duty with rebuilt, not by me, electric choke qjet.

;)

Hmm,have you checked to make sure the choke is fully closing cold, next time you go to start it when it should be acting up,take off the air cleaner, wedge the choke open and while looking down the throat of the carbureator open the throttle with one hand and verify you get an accelerator pump shot. Post back.
