Guys got it running but the carb is still doing runaway acceleration. I hate this q jet. It’s a divorce choke style and the lower part that attaches to the block is gone. Can I just remove all the choke stuff as I really don’t need one

There's a carb mfg that starts with an H I could recommend, but it's considered almost a non-PC word on this forum which is why me and my bigoted friend @Paladin get along

I'm joking (not about the carb reccomendation)

But (we the forum) are happy you got it running. I'm sure someone will chime in about the choke.

If you truly don't need a choke, just wire it open. Otherwise it will be always on and you will be up on the high idle cam.

I’m not sure my high idle cam is working or hooked up properly

Post pics or a video. The choke flap on top is not the throttle blades. Search youtube for a video of how to adjust the high idle cam so you can see where it is and what it does. The divorced choke carbs have only a linkage to set the choke flap and high idle cam on the passenger side of the carb. You need to find the spot where the bar would e attached to go straight down to the divorced thermostat. Move that lever until it is holding the choke flap all the way open. Secure it in that position. That should allow the throttle to move without setting it on the high idle and also keep the choke flap from closing and choking the engine off at idle
