The turn signal switch in my '77 has been acting up and I knew I needed to replace it. No big deal. Tonight I decide to pull the wheel and I find that the upper shaft, where the nut tightens on to hold the wheel, is damaged so bad I cannot reuse it. The nut was only on there for show. It was holding nothing. Some idiot must have used an impact on it at some time. The threads are gone. There is no way to clean it up or thread chase it. It needs to be replaced. This is a factory tilt column.
So, does anyone have an upper shaft or a complete inner shaft they'd like to part with? Or can anyone recommend somebody who might have this part? My truck is down until I get this repaired.
Thanks, Greg

Or you might find that getting an entire column out of a wrecking yard is fastest/easiest/most cost effective. They're probably a dime a dozen.

I decided it was easier to replace the entire column. Replacement column just needs a little cleaning up, should be fine.
Thanks for the input.
