Aluminum? Are you sure? My wife’s GMC Yukon XL Denali package has every option they had and it has the 6.2 but it’s a cast iron block. Over 400 factory horsepower.

My wife’s ‘07 Yukon Denali had the L92 - 403 hp 417 lb ft. ALL Aluminum gen IV engine based off the LS3 block casting.

Her ‘17 Yukon XL Denali has the L86 - 420 hp 460 lb ft. All aluminum gen V engine based off the new LT1.

Sooo… you made me question the validity of my statement from earlier, I could swear it was aluminum based on the look of it. I went and wiggled under the wife’s Yukon with a light and a magnet and it’s definitely an aluminum block. I was tripping out for a moment because from the top side the magnet was sticking to the deck near the edge of the head. It’s near impossible to get a clean view and straight shot to the block from the top. I figured out it was sticking to the head gasket where it protrudes out from under the cylinder head.

Same here. That’s why my wife will be driving her Denali for a long time. She also owns a 79 Shortbox 4X4 with the SM465/205 combo. We are putting in a 6” all spring lift as we speak. It will be a nice truck when we are done with it.

She drove the ‘07 for ten years before we gifted it to her sister that needed a reliable rig.

I’m hoping she gets at least ten years out of this one, it’s already got 140k miles on it.

As much as I like GM, I can't spend 50k on a truck. Especially when the depreciation is so bad. Plus I love my square! Thats what real trucks look like So you can keep a new one. Lol
$50K??? When’s the last time you priced a new truck? My ‘06 2500HD crew cab was $50K when I bought it new. Seems like Chevy trucks are going for 50K with 50K miles on them.

Now I need to check her engine. I have to do an oil change anyway. My 4th Gen Z28 has an all aluminum LS engine. That thing is super light and fast. I put about 100-200 miles a year on each of my toys. Corvettes and Z28’s. I need to drive more I guess. I haven’t even taken out one of my Corvettes yet this year. Maybe that’s why it only has 40,000 miles and it’s a 95. I just got a Mustang GLX with the 302 from my brother. Rust free convertible. Needs brakes and the new top he bought for it put on. It’s quite fast also. It has an old 302 that has been built for the street. It’s a 1983 and in awesome shape. Red with white interior and white top. Will be a fun ride when I can actually drive it. Too many Square body trucks in line first. Man I need some friends. Hahahahaha.

Yea I hear you on that. I work on and deal with newer, not generally new but newer vehicles at the shop. Zero desire to own one.

Ok 60 70? Either way diesel or gas I never buy a new vehicle off the lot. Because as soon as you drive it off you lose a lot of money. Try and take it back 2 months later and see what you get for it. I'd rather buy a good used one 4 or 5 years old and pay about half what a new one would cost. Let someone else take the hit. Jmo

I’d typically agree with the depreciation part, though I can recoup a significant amount at tax time.

I’ve bought two new vehicles in the last few years that I’ve sold for a profit after putting approximately 30,000 miles on each. I’ve put 32,000 miles on my current commuter and I can sell it for $15k more than I paid the dealer.

Weird times we are in. I’d say it’ll deflate with everything else soon, but the semiconductor shortage could get worse with Ukraine not able to produce neon.

I’ve bought two new vehicles in the last few years that I’ve sold for a profit after putting approximately 30,000 miles on each. I’ve put 32,000 miles on my current commuter and I can sell it for $15k more than I paid the dealer.

Thanks for all the replies. I have 3 GMCs and 1 Chevrolet trucks. My daily is a GMC. I would say that I like GMC better, probably for most of the reasons listed above.

You're right it's weird in the used car market. Just 3 years ago my supervisor bought a new chevy 1500 truck that had 4k on it from a salesman driving it. Paid 38k for it. It's not top trim package but still really nice. Wasn't the basic model either.

That's crazy how much they've gone up in a short period of time. I can't afford a new one anyways. Really just refuse to have a 700 or 800 car note. I'm more around the 300 a month note.

That's why I'll pay off my camaro in a couple of years and drive it and the square till they quit moving.

I drive Chevrolet because GMC stands for Get More Cash.
Only if you are trying to find grilles or fender badges for your "professional grade" square. Unobtanium has soared in value recently.

I prefer Chevy as the 1st Sub was a Chevy, but I have owned more GMCs.

Just what was available at the time.

I prefer zero car notes but recognize the offset to that with our ragtag aging fleet is car repair bills.

But, its not every month nor guaranteed for a minimum of 5 years, so there is that.
