I am in process of replacing the dual tanks / pumps and fuel lines. Now I have an 87 with TBI 305. I am trrying to figure out whether to make my own lines. i have read up on a thread or two and not really sure what to do.

I think my first question is what is the psi I have to keep in mind ?

Also my factory lines were steel with rubber ends , all just with regular worm style clamps on them . I have read some people say the rubber hose connection was a no no , but mine came from factory like that. So what are some suggestions? I am open to anything , thanks everyone.

You have to have a hose connection on both ends of the steel line to the tank and to the pump or the lines will break especially at the pump because the motor flexes on it's mounts, and since the frame flexes same thing will happen eventually at the tank, that's why it comes with hose on both ends from the factory, just use good quality fuel hose, if you're gonna make your own lines use AGS Poly-Armor, easiest stuff there is to work with..

with my '87 I just bought a roll of brake line/ fuel line for like $38 and just unrolled it and custom made my own and used rubber on the ends for the bends. tbi fuel pumps should be putting out 13/14psi unlike the carbs that like 4-6psi.

mind you though I also ditched the TBI and went Carb and currently deleting both tanks and shaving off the doors and utilizing the spare tire space for a fuel cell with hidden gas door behind one of the tail lights. I used the above roll so I could use it later as a measurement guideline when I bought steel braided fuel lines and AN fittings.

you relocating the tank to where the spare tire would be? If so you'd only need one tank and sender. Typically the suburban tank is only $10 more than one saddle tank. Put the filler in the bed or behind the tail light. You'd probably break even money wise, if not cheaper. One tank, one sender, fuel line, hinge for tail light and a little welding.

Thanks everyone . Im keeping everything where its at . I like the dual tanks.

I have ran my own fuel lines on several carb vehicles before , just wasnt sure about the TBI setup and how much pressure there was.

So my thought was bend my own hardlines and use rubber ends with hose thats good up to 50psi, that sound like it would be ok?

Classic Tube carries the supply line for about $90. Not sure what your budget is , but this would be bolt in.

The main ones i need to replace are from tank to selector valve, the hard lines are very rusted, seems to be 3 dif sizes, Im thinking 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8.

I did find some hose clamps made for fuel injection so plan on using those.

Classic tube does carry lines for this truck. I just assumed it was the main line.
