Front has been drained and filled. New gasket, fresh diff fluid, and a clean coat of black bed liner. Glad to be finished with this project. Thanks for your help, everyone

Got the rear diff drained and filled. I went with full synthetic gear oil in 75w140. Cleaned and degreaser the cover and bolts, and then painted the cover and bolt heads with some Rustoleum black spray on bed liner.

I also drained and filled the transfer case. I used motor oil, since that's what the factory calls for, and I already had some. Ended up using Valvoline 5w30 Max Life synthetic blend. Full synthetic 75w-140 Lucas gear oil already costs a small fortune, so it was nice to be able to use some oil I already had.

Next up is the front diff. I'll do that another day. Need to buy more 75w-140 gear oil.

The second specification sheet you posted lists 80w gear oil for the T case. I agree engine oil is probably for the chain drive cases. You have the 205 which is all gears. They are tough cases like said. I probably would of put 80-90 in there if it was me. You can get a gallon of supertech at Walmart for around $10.

I still have some Full synthetic 75w-140 Lucas gear oil left over. Would that be a good choice?

Yes I would rather see that than 5w30 in there. I think it holds almost a gallon though doesn't it. I don't remember and didn't look back.

2 1/2 - 3 quarts, I think. Maybe I'll just get some 80w90 full synthetic. Think it's quite a bit cheaper than the 75w-140

Walmart has their brand of full synthetic. But I have found you can get full syn gear oil on sale cheaper at advance Auto when they have it.
