could you recommend something better?

I've installed two of them. One on my 77 and one on my friends 87. I think they work great. He had 35" tires and if he was sitting on pavement and moved his steering wheel back and forth you could watch the frame flex up next to the steering box. After the brace almost all of the flex was gone.
I think it is a great idea to reinforce it before it cracks.
My truck only has 33" tires but I use it hard.

I've had mine sitting in a box for a good year or so now... Maybe I should get around to installing that.

Would definitely recommend it though since it will help prevent any damage to your frame.

I recently installed one on my truck and it made a huge difference.

If time is the factor, just install the little part. That made a big difference considering it only took 10 minutes to install and no drill.

Edited (not an L bracket)
