Hey guys it's been a long while since I last posted but I'm finally getting motivated to get my motor and transmission swapped. Going to run a TH400 and a 205. Anyway thought I'd post some pics of my engine build. Just took the NP203 out today! Man that things a pig! Pulling the engine and transmission tomorrow.

Love the color, should help brighten up the engine compartment.

1st I must say, thanks for sticking with the stock themed corporate blue, its such a nice color choice. Second, I dig the painted valve covers, not really much of a fan of chrome covers as they always rust and look tacky.

Thanks! Is there a thread where you cover the components you put in that sweet looking engine?

I had a friend who is an engine builder who built a 400 for his 68 long box chevy 3/4 ton with 36" tires. Believe it or not we averaged 17 mpg on road trips. He used the edelbrock performer camshaft

Long ago in the 90s, my plow truck was equipped with a detuned midwest modified race car engine. Most guys round here like to run SBC and 351 fords(ford small blocks???) as they ban big blocks in competition. My gpa built engines for guys back in the day and when he had an extra at one point, when the truck started running real bad he tuned the engine to run on regular gasoline(race gas and huge compression ratios) and apparently was hauling over 350hp on cheap pump gas. He eventually sold that engine, which was a 400 bored over to 406. Im very upset and wish I were alive in the 90s to have stopped him. I want that engine in my truck :(

Thanks guys! My build consists of stock rods and bottom end ground .010/.010 and internally balanced with ARP rod bolts. Dart 165 SS heads with 76cc chambers. Pistons are 12cc dish. It works out to be 9.2:1 compression. Cam is a COMP xtreme 4x4. It's the smallest one they have. .432 intake .452 exhaust basic operating range 600 to 4600 rpm. This is a torque experiment, hope it works out lol! Comp roller tip rockers, Edelbrock Performer intake and the trusty old Rochester.

Well the results are in! I made 352hp and 452ftlbs. Torque was all in before 2900 rpm. Kind of wish I went with a little bigger cam now but that's what I got so I'm happy. That torque should get the old girl moving anyway.

Thanks Rusty! So how do you think it'll pull with the 3.08 gears? Was hoping the torque might help make up for them?
