Evaporator Coil Removal

i recently purchased a 1986 k10. the previous owner dropped a 454 in her. the problem is, there are lots of go nowhere/do nothing wires and hoses in the engine bay. it looks sloppy to me. i would really like to get all of that crap out of there. one thing in particular that i am looking at is the evaporator coil. there are loose a/c hoses just taking up space. i want to pull all of that out since it is not doing anything, but i am worried about any “gotchas.” other than maybe wanting a/c down the road, is there any reason to keep all of that in my engine bay?

Not really.. what my dad did was gut the box and sealed it with spray insulation. And from what I gather, aftermarket AC is gonna treat you a lot better than factoryI have the box to mine just sitting in the cab of a truck

Since you live in FL I would assume AC is a must.
You will also have to consider what to do about the blower motor. It's need for both AC and heat.
Only time I see people removing AC is for race cars.
