Hello everyone. My son and I are working on a 1978 K10. Through the course of its like the vapor canisters have had the vacuum nipple damaged and the canisters need to be replaced. It is a duel canister setup. I have tried to search the part numbers to no avail. Part number 17056582 does not give me any viable results. The other part number, 17060868BC, comes back to a Corvette? Any help on tracking down replacements would be great. Thank you.

Your local parts store should have them also, below is from rockauto for $68, so you could probably get it from summit racing tomorrow for the same or lower price.

In a pinch, you can also purchase either brass or plastic "barbed" nipples from your local hardware store (not a big box store like home deep hole), and then drill out where your broken fitting was located, to a size that will fit your new fitting. Epoxy it in there with 2 part plastic epoxy, and 10min later, you're good to go.

Welcome to the forums.

Was it all still connected when you got the truck? Reason I ask is that the purge system varied from year to year. My ‘75 has a dedicated port on the Quadrajet, and no other purge valve, but in some years there were external valves, or a valve built into the canister. You want it to vent periodically to remove vapor, but not vent all the time.

I Have a 87 smog truck.

All the engine equipment has been removed and sold to a gentleman in Colorado.
BUT, the canisters are still there.

If you want them, send a pm, because it's highly likely I'll lose track of this thread and won't ever find it again. Lol
