On my '79 K25 350 I had to remove the vacuum-actuator of the EFE, because it doesn't work anymore.

Now, with the actuator completely removed, do I have to lock the heat valve in the exhaust-manifold, to stay in the open position (towards the rear), or will it stay open due to the exhaust stream, when the engine is running?

The exhaust should force it open, but I’ve got it tied open so it doesn’t have that unnecessary resistance. And I had a rattle right there a few years ago that I suspected was the EFE rattling so that also prompted me to tie it open. I’d love to gut that POS out of there or get shorty headers. Someday I’ll get around to it.
