Edlebrock carbs and fuel pressure regulators

I've got a 1984 Chevrolet C-20 that the former owner installed a edlebrock carburetor on. I believe that I'm having some minor issues with it because of excessive fuel pressure. I'd like to install a pressure regulator, and I'd like to hear from folks that have one, what they installed, and what they like or dislike about it.

Heres my setup.

Regulator

Then I ended up using lots of different AN fittings and adapters. I blocked the fuel return line from the regulator itself as my fuel pump as a return line. If your does not you'll want to run one from either the pump or the regulator. It's always best to keep the regulator close to the carb to avoid the pressure bleeding down over distance and bends. It's also best to have the regulator hard mounted. Mine is not currently but between the hard line I have it secure enough not to create leaks. It works well but could be better by being hard mounted. Which it has the provisions to be done I just haven't yet. It also wasent a whole lot of money.

David, thanks for the link I read it over. Joshua thanks for the pics of your set up and all the info. I haven't had a chance to do anything yet, but I will one of these days.

I bought the Edelbrock fuel pump which states it is set at 6 psi. I tried a regulator and could not get it set correctly, plus it was a pain in the ass to mount it in the right spot. My fuel pressure gauge doesn't go over 6 psi.

It bounces like that because a mechanical pumps produce pressure like that. I would say set for max.

I'm not sure who you are asking this question of but for me I'm running ported because that was factory on my truck and my emissions devices, primarily cat, air pump are intact. Plus I find I have a better cold idle on ported.

Looking at the carb from the front, left is ported correct?? If so i am also running ported.
